More than 180 universities across the globe have so far dispatched participants to this outmost intercultural programme, with many students coming form highly renowned institutions such as Harvard, Yale, Cambridge, Oxford, INCAE or the University of Tokyo.

The YES Japan Programme welcomes up to 36 students from 3rd grade bachelor, masters or doctoral courses of all discplines up to the age of 32.

Applicants need not be specialists in social and environmental issues, but join with a high motivation and dedication to contribute their specific expertise to the transdisciplinary approach of the course. Good command of English is required.

The organisers seek to maximise diversity in an academic as well as cultural sense, while keeping a gender balance - 50% female and 50% male.

The subsidised participation fee is CHF 1200 plus airfare for overseas students and JPY 85'000 for Japanese students. This fee covers tuition, accommodation and food as well as local excursions.

Applicants who prove to be in need for financial support can apply for scholarships.
